\u201cECOVENTION EUROPE\u201d by Roel Arkestijn & Sue Spaid<\/p>\n

In the mid-1950s, there were a number of artists who recognized the importance of a good balance between plants, animals, people and their environment. These artists signal that Mother Earth’s “resources” are not inexhaustible and, through artistic, spoken and innovative projects, seek attention for ecology and sustainability.<\/p>\n

These ecoventions (contraction of ecology and inventions) are often cross-overs between different disciplines (such as social media, community art, landscape architecture and technology). In addition, various parties are involved in the projects, such as scientists, politicians and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Now, 60 years later, there is a unique exhibition of ecoventions at Museum Contemporary Art De Domijnen. The exhibition is a collaboration between the curator of De Domijnen, Roel Arkesteijn and US guest curator Sue Spaid. They show in the expo the work of more than 40 artists from 13 countries, complemented by works from the collection of De Domijnen. All artists and works are selected because they aim to expose or solve the environmental crises in Europe.<\/p>\n

EM is showing an overview of Artworks related to “locality grids” created in Warsaw, Brussels, Amorgos and a new work \u201clocality grid 1.5 Sittard\u201d (in process).<\/p>\n
